Ticia Riche
Mrs. Riche is the Library Technician at Western High School.
She enjoys reading & recommending YA novels to Western's students, so this is the perfect job for her. The revival of the vampire romance genre makes it difficult for her to pick just one favorite author these days. If you are interested in a good "vampire read" ask her for a recommendation! Check out some of her favorites books; you'll find them between the Breaking Dawn book ends on her desk.
Mrs. Riche has worked at Western since June 2004. The 2011/2012 school year is her 8th school year. Before working at the high school level, she was an elementary school librarian for the Magnolia and Cypress Elementary School Districts for three years. She has worked in accounting for a sign manufacturer in the OC, retail management, and ran her own home businesses. If you were to ask her what has been her favorite job, it is a toss up between being a stay-at-home Mom and working at Western. (Although, being a stay-at home Mom was more like an adventure than a job.)
Mrs. Riche is an avid photographer and scrapbooker. She has led many scrap booking workshops and has taught black and white photo tinting. She is currently working on her 30th photo album. Check out her photo albums on the circulation desk in the library. In June, she displays the Western Graduation album.
Mrs. Riche loves creating interesting library displays to encourage Western students to read new books. Bulletin boards change monthly and will even coincide with what you are reading in your English classes. Take a look at the glass cases in the library lobby when you stop by to use a computer or check out a library book.
Mrs. Riche is a rare native Californian, having spent a brief, but incredibly LONG time in the east. She has traveled extensively across the United States; ask her about being caught in a tornado in her brand new car, the BIGGEST salad bar in Utah, & Seattle's Underground Tour. Seattle is her favorite city, and she goes there as often as she can.
Besides traveling, she likes to go camping. Yes really. Granted it is a three room tent with all the comforts of home, but who says you can't be civilized while enjoying nature? Ask her about camping in Yosemite....yes they really have bears there, about how BIG a raccoon sounds when it's walking outside your tent at 3 am, or about what raccoons actually do when you try to scare them out of your campground...!
Mrs. Riche has been married 22 years; she and her husband have one son, Scott. Scott enjoys his "celebrity status" of being "the library tech's son." He is often recognized in Target, Wal Mart and McDonalds.
